A HOSPITALITY ZONE (aka entertainment district) is a mixed-use area with a cluster of dining and entertainment businesses, as well as public space activities such as festivals, events and markets to facilitate inter-generational and inter-cultural socializing. The social experience is the common underlying attraction that draws people to a hospitality zone.

RHI’s Hospitality Zone Assessment (HZA) is a strategic process for cities seeking to evaluate, improve and create a sustainable process for nightlife safety and vibrancy. Over a period of six months, RHI staff and consultants observe nightlife firsthand, conduct focus groups and collect data to drill deep into strengths, weaknesses and opportunities in three case study districts. Twelve additional months are dedicated to action plan implementation and evaluation.
