Planning for Smart Growth and Mixed Use Development

The mixed use development trend in urban planning raises new issues and challenges for policymakers, hospitality zone managers, businesses and residents. Efforts to infill urban areas and create density locates residents and commercial businesses in close proximity, often resulting in conflicts about noise, trash, vandalism, fights and public urination.

Who’s to Blame? While patrons and businesses owners may seemingly be to blame, these conflicts are often symptomatic of unaddressed issues and systems. Learn the steps to identify and distinguish between root causes and symptoms of greater challenges to properly address quality of life issues.
